• Weekend Getaway to Cannon Beach, OR

I’ve officially celebrated my last birthday in my twenties! I would say I don’t know where the time has gone, but I do. My twenties have been very busy, full of fun and friends, a lot of learning, and building our little family. Sometimes I forget that I’m not 24 anymore, but I’ve loved every minute of this decade. Even the not-so-good parts of it have had positive outcomes, so I can’t complain. For my birthday, my husband surprised me with a weekend getaway to Cannon Beach, OR. It’s about a 4 hour drive from Seattle, but the beach was absolutely beautiful, and the town was adorable. We went to…

  • A weekend of family fun and exploring

The weather here has been absolutely perfect the past few days, and people are finally wearing shorts and sandals. Not that I haven’t already been wearing those things all winter (because #floridian), but other people were actually wearing them as well. We had brunch at Salty’s, a waterfront restaurant that has a popular brunch buffet on weekends. It was good, but there’s a lot of seafood, which is what they’re known for, but I don’t eat seafood. I stuck to waffles, hash browns, and the dessert bar, which were all tasty. There’s a nice sidewalk right along the water and a little pier to walk out on. The view of…

  • How I “survive” traveling with babies and small children

So far I’ve been on over a dozen flights with either one or two children under the age of 2, some of which were by myself. I haven’t attempted a solo flight with the two of them yet, but that’ll be on the books soon. Traveling with kids, especially young kids that are toddlers or babies, can sound overwhelming. As long as you plan ahead, there’s plenty of things you can do to set yourself up for a smooth trip with your little ones. Here are my thoughts on traveling with kids, and some tips on how I “survive” flying with babies and small children. It’s funny, as parents, we…

8 Things You Should Know About Pregnancy

There’s a lot of information out there about pregnancy, from the internet, or books, or friends. Though I’m always surprised by how much people, especially women, don’t know about pregnancy. I’ve learned so much from my two pregnancies, but I know there’s plenty I still don’t know. Here are 8 things I’ve learned about pregnancy through my own experiences, or those of my friends, that I think all women should be aware of. Getting pregnant can be tricky Before I even get into pregnancy-related topics, understand that it is not always easy to get pregnant. It’s pretty amazing so many people do, to be honest. The window for a pregnancy…

  • Day Trip to Ruby Beach in Olympic National Park

I’ve always said I don’t think I could live somewhere that doesn’t have beaches. Then we moved up to Washington, where beaches don’t typically come to mind when thinking of places to visit. However, there’s actually some gorgeous beaches in Washington, specifically on the Olympic Peninsula, just west of Seattle. We recently drove over to Ruby Beach for a day. Not going to lie, it was quite the drive, especially with the littles. But, it was worth it. I would probably plan on spending at least one night there next time though to get to see even more. Ruby Beach (Olympic National Park) Ruby Beach is the northernmost of the…

  • Carlsbad Flower Fields Family Trip

Spring in San Diego: Family Trip to the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch

It’s almost springtime in San Diego, and a family trip to the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch are a must see! If you live in the area, or if you’re visiting in the spring, add this to your list. Opening day is usually in early March, but a lot of the flowers may not be open yet. The best time to go see the flowers when most of them have bloomed is around the end of March to mid-April. Follow them on instagram (@the_flower_fields) to get the latest updates and figure out when you want to go. Parking is free, but you do have to buy tickets to enter the…

  • Dog-Friendly Birthday Cake Recipe

Anyone else an official crazy dog (or cat) lady that throws a birthday party for your pet every year? Both of our pups are officially 8 years old! And we celebrate their birthdays every year with some form of cake or special cookies. I usually make them this dog-friendly birthday cake though, because I don’t always have time to trek to the specialty pet shop that has a happy birthday dog cookie covered in carob. And I don’t like the options offered at the big chain pet stores. This cake is super easy to make and has all dog-friendly, and approved, ingredients. You can eat it too, but it’s pretty…

  • Las Vegas Day 3 & 4

Our last few days in Las Vegas with the kids has been fun, except that K has been fighting a cold the whole trip, and I wasn’t sure if it was a cold or just traveling with a toddler. But it got worse on our last day, which was supposed to be our fun family day, of course. So we spent most of the day in the hotel room and at the doctor, where they confirmed she had an ear infection. Poor thing. We did meet some friends who happened to be in town for lunch at Hattie B’s in the Cosmopolitan (they had some really good chicken tenders by…

  • Las Vegas with Kids: Day 2

Our second day here was a lot of fun! The kids slept in, which is always a nice start to the day. Lol. We had breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi, a French restaurant in the Paris hotel. It has an awesome patio area right on the strip, which is great for people watching, and you could see the Bellagio Fountains if you’re there in the afternoons. It’s been really cold and windy here though, so we sat inside because of the kids. French toast. Flamingos. M&Ms. I had the blueberry French toast, and it was REALLY good. Remember how I said most restaurants don’t impress me with their food? Well,…
