  • Vegetarian Dinner Ideas

I’ve recently started paying more attention to what we eat and what’s in the foods we are eating. There’s a few people that I follow on instagram (here’s my favorite) that have great feeds full of information about what’s in our food and everyday products. In my attempt to be more conscious of what I’m putting into my body, I’ve watched a few health documentaries. I liked What the Health and Forks Over Knives. Next on my list is Secret Ingredients. It’s alarming how many common health problems are tied to the food we eat, and especially animal products. So, we randomly decided to start incorporating more vegetarian meals into…

  • Dog-Friendly Birthday Cake Recipe

Anyone else an official crazy dog (or cat) lady that throws a birthday party for your pet every year? Both of our pups are officially 8 years old! And we celebrate their birthdays every year with some form of cake or special cookies. I usually make them this dog-friendly birthday cake though, because I don’t always have time to trek to the specialty pet shop that has a happy birthday dog cookie covered in carob. And I don’t like the options offered at the big chain pet stores. This cake is super easy to make and has all dog-friendly, and approved, ingredients. You can eat it too, but it’s pretty…

  • The Best Sugar Cookies

Who DOESN’T love a good sugar cookie? Especially around the holidays when they are shaped like a pumpkin or ghost or Santa or a christmas tree. But to be totally honest, I prefer chocolate to be present in every recipe I  use, but I could seriously eat an entire batch of these cookies sans chocolate! And they’re easy and fun to make too! My favorite part is icing them 🙂 Oh, and an added bonus – you don’t have to chill the cookie dough before rolling and cutting! SCORE! Of course I discovered these recipes through Pinterest! I slightly modified the sugar cookie recipe, and below that is the recipe for…

  • How To Make Puppy Chow (For Humans!)

Puppy chow. Monkey munch. White trash. Chex with powdered sugar. Most of you have probably had this snack at some point in your life, but it has about 110 different names, so you may or may not know what I’m talking about. Personally, I’ve always called it puppy chow since my neighbor’s mom made it when I was like, ten years old. This snack is pretty easy to make and super delicious! I love that you can make it for any occasion, even holidays! I just add festive M&Ms to the mix and voilà: you have Christmas puppy chow, Halloween or fall puppy chow, Valentine’s Day puppy chow, or any…

  • Super Delicious Cream Cheese Pound Cake Recipe

(a.k.a. The most heavenly tasting food you will put in your mouth… and after you see the ingredient list, you’ll know why!) I discovered this recipe about a year ago (of course) and it’s one of my husband’s favorite desserts! Which is saying a lot because he is not a sweets person like, at all! Forewarning, it takes approx. 2 hours for this to cook, I assume because it’s so thick and heavy, so only make it when you will be home for a while so it can cook. But it’s definitely worth it! I like putting it in the over before we cook dinner, so by the time we finish…

  • Easy and Delicious Cuban Imperial Rice Recipe

I’ve probably mentioned before that my husband loves Cuban food, as he should seeing how he grew up in a Cuban household where his mother or grandmother would make delicious big meals two, and sometimes three, times a day. As someone who is not on that kind of cooking level, like at all, I’ve been pinning lots of ideas and found a few recipes for this Cuban dish called Arroz Imperial, which is basically a chicken and yellow rice casserole (to me, at least). It may seem like a lot is going on here, and there kind of is, but it’s really pretty easy to put together and doesn’t take…

  • Best Spaghetti Sauce You’ll Ever Make

A little fun fact about me, that my husband is well aware of- I’m a terrible cook and a picky eater, but he married me anyways! My husband comes from a Cuban family that makes big meals every chance they get that are always super delicious and flavorful, so I’m always browsing Pinterest for recipe ideas for dinner to try to keep up. If it was up to me, I would live on chocolate chip pancakes/waffles, Lucky Charms and an occasional spinach salad to maintain a healthy balance. Too bad for me, my husband doesn’t share the same thoughts, thus I rely heavily on Pinterest for easy-to-make recipes and recipes that my picky-self…

  • Homemade Pumpkin Dog Treats

I’ve been making homemade cookies for my dogs for years because I just hate the way the treats from the store look and smell. I would love to make all of their food, but it is very time consuming and I don’t want them to miss out on any key nutrients. So, I do my best to at least make their dog treats every weekend or every other weekend, depending on how many they eat during the week.  These cookies are all natural and healthy for your pups, and they are so easy to make with only 3 ingredients. I have yet to meet a dog that doesn’t like these treats.…
