  • How to stop your child from climbing out of the crib

Our baby just turned one last weekend! And, he is officially to the point where he could climb out of his crib if he really wanted to. He’s always been a good climber, but he’s also pretty tall, which gives him an extra advantage. Obviously he’s too young for a toddler bed, but our mattress has been at the lowest setting since he started standing. So, we decided to build a simple platform out of 2x4s to lower the mattress an extra 3-4 inches to stop him from climbing out of the crib. (THE ORIGINAL POST FROM 2019 HAS BEEN UPDATED 7/2021) This bought us a whole year before he…

  • DIY Hydrating Pregnancy Belly Butter

This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my privacy policy for more info. I truly believe there’s no way to actually prevent stretch marks because they are based on your genetics, however, I do believe you can help lessen the severity if you take care of your skin and stay hydrated! I started getting stretch marks in my first trimester before I even gained any weight! I actually didn’t gain any weight the entire first trimester, so I was shocked when I saw some “stretchies” (thanks for that word, Chrissy Teigen). I guess even though I wasn’t gaining weight, my body was still changing, which was obvious when certain clothes were…

  • DIY Personalized Glitter Wine Glass

Whenever possible, I’ve always preferred to make things myself; it is funner than just buying it, and it makes the item more personal and has some of my own “blood, sweat and tears” in it. Though I rarely bleed or cry while making something. A few weeks ago I made these personalized etched glitter wine glasses for my friend’s bachelorette party. Each wine glass had the guest’s first name initial and had a gold glitter stem. These were fun to make, and were a great addition to the bachelorette gift bag. Here’s how I did made these DIY personalized glitter wine glasses: Supplies: Wine glass (I got mine at Ikea…

  • How To Make A Lingerie Cake

This Wedding Wednesday is more of a DIY/how-to for bachelorette parties, bridal showers, or a lingerie shower. A few weeks ago I made a lingerie cake (for the first time) for my friend’s bachelorette party (you can see pics from the weekend here). It was a lot of fun to make and not as difficult as I thought it might be, but it did take a couple hours the night before the party! Here’s how I did it: This cake used a total of 5 boxes of cake and 6 tubs of icing. (Because I was making so much cake, I actually bought the bulk package of eggs at Publix…

  • DIY Buffet Table Makeover

Ever since becoming a homeowner, I’ve been itching to get crafty and re-do some pieces. Though I’ve totally messed up some projects, this project has had the best turnout so far! Our dining room table doesn’t have a matching buffet, and I’ve had a really hard time finding a wooden buffet that matched the dark brown wood of the table. So, we decided that we would do a white buffet, we just needed to find the right one and for a reasonable price. After about two weeks of searching Craigslist and local thrift stores, we found the perfect buffet on a Craigslist post by a local estate sale store. It…
