New Snapchat Lenses: How To Use

I’m sure some of you already know that Snapchat has some awesome new features with their most recent update that came out yesterday! First, and not so exciting, they’ve added the option to purchase additional views of snaps. For just 99 cents you can replay a snap up to 3 times, so be careful next time you send a “sexy snap” to someone that only last 1-2 seconds…because they could pay to replay and screenshot that snap!

The real exciting news that came with the Snapchat update is the selfie lenses (7 total)! I couldn’t stop playing with them on my drive into work today. Every single red light I hit, I would pull up Snapchat and put a new lens picture to my story, sorry friends that follow my stories! It took me a few minutes to figure out how to use this new feature, so I decided to make a quick little post about it so you can enjoy as well!! Some of them are even animated and have sound effects!

Once you open Snapchat, set the camera to the front camera you use for selfies. Then, hold your finger down on your face and face scanner lines will appear like this:

Once your face has been scanned, the filters will appear on the bottom right. Here’s all 7 lenses you can use, my favorite is the “rainbow vomit” and I imagine that is Miley’s favorite too.

This lens is actually animated and the rainbow is spewing out of your mouth, but I couldn’t post the video on here, but you can check my instagram to see it in action!

This lens is also animated and the tears pour down your face

This is terrifying but perfect for Halloween…or maybe as a good warning to your boyfriend that mother nature is about to pay you a visit.

The Terminator… random…but also animated

This lens turns your face old and wrinkly and adds a monocle… it’s like how the Monopoly guy would look today

Another animated lens…the heart eyes explode when you raise your eyebrows

This one might be my second favorite because it’s just funny. The over-exaggerated eyes and mouth just make me laugh.

There were a few other changes, but nothing major that I noticed…except that the seconds on the timer are gone so now you don’t know how long a snap is going to last, but oh well.

I hope you have just as much fun playing with the new Snapchat updates as I am!

UPDATED 9/21: After a week of using these new lenses, I’ve noticed that a new option appears almost daily, and then an older lens is removed. So, half of the lenses shown in this post are currently not available on Snapchat. But, there are other fun new ones each day! I hope they bring back the rainbow vomit one though!

xx,

Kirsten
