  • Travel Guide: Anchorage, Alaska with Kids

If you follow me on instagram (if you don’t, you should – here), then you probably saw that we were in Anchorage, Alaska recently, visiting a friend of mine from college. This was my first trip alone with the kids, since my husband had to work. (Check out this post for my tips on traveling with kids) It went much smoother than I expected, as usual. With the exception of the 30 minute meltdown on the flight home during the decent. But, it happens, and sometimes there’s just nothing you can do once you’ve tried everything to calm a baby down. C’est la vie. Here’s a little recap of our trip,…

  • Weekend Getaway to Cannon Beach, OR

I’ve officially celebrated my last birthday in my twenties! I would say I don’t know where the time has gone, but I do. My twenties have been very busy, full of fun and friends, a lot of learning, and building our little family. Sometimes I forget that I’m not 24 anymore, but I’ve loved every minute of this decade. Even the not-so-good parts of it have had positive outcomes, so I can’t complain. For my birthday, my husband surprised me with a weekend getaway to Cannon Beach, OR. It’s about a 4 hour drive from Seattle, but the beach was absolutely beautiful, and the town was adorable. We went to…

  • How I “survive” traveling with babies and small children

So far I’ve been on over a dozen flights with either one or two children under the age of 2, some of which were by myself. I haven’t attempted a solo flight with the two of them yet, but that’ll be on the books soon. Traveling with kids, especially young kids that are toddlers or babies, can sound overwhelming. As long as you plan ahead, there’s plenty of things you can do to set yourself up for a smooth trip with your little ones. Here are my thoughts on traveling with kids, and some tips on how I “survive” flying with babies and small children. It’s funny, as parents, we…

  • Day Trip to Ruby Beach in Olympic National Park

I’ve always said I don’t think I could live somewhere that doesn’t have beaches. Then we moved up to Washington, where beaches don’t typically come to mind when thinking of places to visit. However, there’s actually some gorgeous beaches in Washington, specifically on the Olympic Peninsula, just west of Seattle. We recently drove over to Ruby Beach for a day. Not going to lie, it was quite the drive, especially with the littles. But, it was worth it. I would probably plan on spending at least one night there next time though to get to see even more. Ruby Beach (Olympic National Park) Ruby Beach is the northernmost of the…

  • Las Vegas Day 3 & 4

Our last few days in Las Vegas with the kids has been fun, except that K has been fighting a cold the whole trip, and I wasn’t sure if it was a cold or just traveling with a toddler. But it got worse on our last day, which was supposed to be our fun family day, of course. So we spent most of the day in the hotel room and at the doctor, where they confirmed she had an ear infection. Poor thing. We did meet some friends who happened to be in town for lunch at Hattie B’s in the Cosmopolitan (they had some really good chicken tenders by…

  • Las Vegas with Kids: Day 2

Our second day here was a lot of fun! The kids slept in, which is always a nice start to the day. Lol. We had breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi, a French restaurant in the Paris hotel. It has an awesome patio area right on the strip, which is great for people watching, and you could see the Bellagio Fountains if you’re there in the afternoons. It’s been really cold and windy here though, so we sat inside because of the kids. French toast. Flamingos. M&Ms. I had the blueberry French toast, and it was REALLY good. Remember how I said most restaurants don’t impress me with their food? Well,…

    Las Vegas: Day 1

So, day one was supposed to be more like day two, but we ended up getting in almost 10hrs later than we were supposed to. Which is always fun when traveling with small children. If you follow me on Instagram (and if you don’t, you should – here you go) you may have watched the fiasco unfold in my stories. Short-ish version – it snowed in Seattle and all of the people and businesses forgot how to operate. So it took us 2hrs to get to the airport (it usually takes 30min), then our flight was delayed for 2hrs before they cancelled it entirely, then we had to wait in…

  • Clearwater Marine Aquarium and Winter the Dolphin

Dolphins have been my favorite animals since I was at least like, 10. I remember my parents let me redo my bedroom, and it was dolphin EVERYTHING! Light blue walls, with a dolphin border, bedsheets that looked like water and a comforter and pillowcases with giant pictures of dolphins on them, stuffed animals, figurines, you name it. You’d think after that I may have gotten over my obsession, but obviously not because they are still my favorite animal. And I still can’t bring myself to get rid of some of those dolphin figurines. (Lol) We went to Florida for a short trip a few weeks ago, and of course we…
