Fun Date Night Idea: Rage Room

Have you been to a rage room yet? If not, you should definitely do a quick Google search to find your closest location! We went to this rage room in Seattle for our date night. I’ve known about rage rooms for awhile now, but we finally took the plunge and tried it out. I came across our local rage room while looking for fun, kid-free date ideas. I wasn’t sure we would be able to get into the mood for it, but I figured it was something new to try. After I hit the first bottle with a baseball bat, I was totally comfortable and “ready to rage.”

What is a rage room?

In case you aren’t familiar with rage rooms, they are a business with a room where you go to break things and “take out your rage.” Before we get into the 5 reasons you should try a rage room, here’s how it works (at least the one we went to). First, make a reservation to secure your time slot. After you check in, you select your items to break. Our rage room had shelves full of things from beer bottles to liquor bottles, vases, clay pots, picture frames. Then you could “upgrade” and get some bigger items, like TVs, furniture, extra large vases or picture frames, etc. Once it’s your turn, you suit up in a protective suit that looks like the scrubs they put dads in during a c-section. They also give you a helmet (of course) and gloves.

Once you’e selected your items to break and in the safety gear, you get to go into the room and break everything with the tools they provide. Ours had baseball bats, golf clubs, a sledgehammer and some other items. They had a speaker in the room so we could play our own music, we chose Linkin Park for some good rage music. Lol.

5 reasons you should try a rage room…

  1. You recently ended a relationship: break those picture frames and shot glasses you bought while vacationing together.
  2. You got fired, or quit a job you hated: that employee of the month award? SMASH IT.
  3. You’ve had a really stressful week: what better way to destress than to break a bunch of glass and furniture?
  4. You’ve never purposely broken anything: if you’ve never experienced the feeling of breaking something out of anger or just for the sake of breaking it, you need to try it.
  5. You’re looking for a fun, different date idea: why not break sh!t with your favorite person? Whether it’s your significant other or a best friend, rage together.

A lot of the rage rooms will let you bring your own items in to break. Which is perfect for anyone going through a break up or any other major changes in their life like leaving a job. And you don’t have to clean up the pieces *wink*wink*

Would love to hear if you’ve tried a rage room yet in the comments!

xx,

Kirsten
